INSTALL NVIDIA SWITCHABLE DISCRETE NVIDIA GRAPHICS IN WINDOWS 8, 8.1

How to install NVIDIA-Intel discrete SWITCHABLE graphics driver on those Laptops whose drivers are incompatable with Windows 8, 8.1

Hello friends,

By God's grace and with lots of research, googling and all, Finally I am able to install NVIDIA Switchable graphics driver on Win8.1

Here is the details of my Laptop

Dell Vostro 3500

Supported OS: WinXP, Vista, Seven

no Win8,8.1 Support

Nvidia Video Switchable Discrete drivers also not install on it when using Win8,8.1

Discrete Display: Nvidia 310m

Integrated Display: Intel Ironlake HD

Ram: 4GB

HDD: 500GB

Current OS: Win 8.1 Pro 64-BIT

Here are the steps which I have followed:

Firstly I have done a fresh installation of Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Then, I downloaded official video drivers from dell website for my laptop i.e. DELL VOSTRO 3500. These drivers are meant for installing in WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64-BIT.

Select OS as MS Windows 7 64-bit

Go to at last, you will see Video(4).

Download all 4. [Actually we need first 3 ]

Then, first try to install nVidia Nvidia Geforce 310M -Discrete, v.8.16.11.8921, A02(R292772)

It will give you error saying it is not detecting the particular hardware, or it is only can be installed on WinXP or VIsta or Seven, not on this particular OS.

Don't worry, go to C:/dell...  there you can see the extracted content of that installer. Go inside it, Display Driver,  C:\dell\drivers\R292772\Display\NVDM.INF.

Right click --> Install. It will say successful

Then do fresh installation of  Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, v.15.17.11.64.2202, A05

(Driver).

It will install normally without any error and just restart the PC.

Go to Device Manager, Under Display Adapters, you can see your IntelHD graphics is working but in another discrete driver it will be showing some Microsoft Basic Display .

Here comes the tricky part:  

Disable the Intel Adabter by right click on it and select Disable in Device Manager

The resolution will become low of your Laptop Screen.

Now run the 

 nVidia Geforce 310M-Switchable, v.189.99, A02  installer.

It will install on Win8.1 without any problem amd when it get finished, restart the PC

Now if you see in Device Manager, you will Intel and Nvidia bot are installed and Working

(Previously we have disabled intel, but it automatically Enabled after the installation of above driver)

Now your Nvidia Switchable Graphics driver gets fully installed and working great with full functionality
